“The nation has lost a distinguished servant of the people”

President Hage G. Geingob died at Lady Pohamba Hospital on Sunday at 00:04.

In a media release issued by the Presidency, Vice President Nangolo Mbumba stated that the president was receiving medical treatment from his medical team.

“His medical team has been trying its utmost to ensure that our president recovers. Regrettably, notwithstanding the team’s spirited efforts to save his life, sadly, fellow Namibian President Geingob passed on,” the Vice President said.

The Vice President Mbumba further said that the nation has lost a distinguished servant of the people, a liberation struggle icon, the chief architect of our constitution, and the pillar of the Namibian house.

Thus, the Cabinet will convene with immediate effect in order for the necessary state arrangements to be made.

First Lady Monica Geingos and their children were by his side at the time of his passing.
